The Mappleton Raft Race and Bridge Jump consists of teams of 2 people who paddle down the River Dove and then jump off a bridge. It doesn't sound much but the Dove is one of the coldest rivers in the UK... especially on New Years Day! After plunging into the river the contestants still have to run 500 yards to the pub. Hundreds come to watch - and this event is the ultimate hangover cure from your New Years Eve antics!
