The Leith Hill Wife Carrying Race features a course of around 250m, including around 10m of acent and descent. Males or females carry a "wife" (who does not need to be the carrier's wife), and all those carried must wear a helmet. The first over the line is the winner, however there are time penalties for dropping the wife. In 2008 I came home in first place, winning more than £150 for Rainbows Children's Hospice.
