In 2009 the World Gravy Wrestling returned once again to the Rose n' Bowl pub in Stacksteads as part of the annual Pennine Lancashire Festival of Food and Culture. The competition involves competitors wrestling each other in a pool of gravy and the winner is the individual who is awarded the most points by three judges for crowd reaction, humour, costume, and to a far lesser extent, pins and take downs! In 2009 I was fortunate enough to go all the way in this competition, and was crowned World Gravy Wrestling Champion!
